Compiling renewable energy information
- Publishing on alternative energy
- Providing energy statistics
- Compiling bibliography on renewable energy
- Furnishing databases on energy
- Providing reference service on unexhaustable energies
Implementation
The Information Network on New and Renewable Energy Resources and Technologies for Asia and the Pacific publishes indexes, brochures and bibliographies on new and renewable energy, including Biogas Technology, Gasifier Technology, New and Renewable Publications: 1975-1983, INNERTAP Renewable Energy Index (Vols I to VI), New and Renewable Sources of Energy Publications: 1979-1983. It has also released the Energy-Related Database (ERD) – a listing of information (published or unpublished) on new and renewable sources of energy, energy conservation and environmental protection, which uses the UNESCO-developed CDS/ISIS software (Computerized Documentation System/Integrated Set of Information Systems).
UNESCO itself has published (CD-ROM, 1995) the UNESCO/ISEEK Energy Database (ISEEK: International System for Energy Expertise and Knowledge). This is a referral database on renewable sources of energy and energy conservation, providing information on national governmental organizations, research centres, information centres, professional and trade association, networks, training and education, databases and databanks, journals, reference publications and audiovisual aids from 170 countries, as well as United Nations organizations and international institutions.
