Broadening understanding of human development

UNESCO emphasizes the interrelation between human resources development, the cultural, educational, scientific and communication dimensions of development, and an environmentally sound, sustainable and equitable development'. The case of the least developed countries is of special concern. The implication of structural and sectoral adjustment policies is explored. The linkages between human resources and development programmes are clarified. The new insights are reflected in interdisciplinary policies and strategies in education, science and technology.
