Assessing organizational performance

  • Monitoring organizational project
  • Evaluating organization programme
  • Reviewing plan of organization
  • Projecting actual business performance

Description

Undertaking regular follow-up and periodic assessment of organizational efforts, plans, programmes, projects and performance in order to further develop forms of action, determine appropriate expertise and overcome obstacles. The assessment process is used to highlight successes and motivate creativity and innovation. Field assessment may be undertaken on a sample of projects, where these are large in number. The monitoring can be internal or by the party undertaking the monitored programme, and external or by an independent body. External monitoring may tend to be less biased.

Implementation

In 1993, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies expended 247,613 Swiss francs to monitor and evaluate the implementation of its Strategic Work Plan, using the Federation's Monitoring Group.
