Threatened species of Gorilla gorilla gorilla

The western lowland gorilla is the most numerous of the three subspecies. The forests of Gabon are currently considered to hold the major population, although it is possible that unsurveyed areas of Congo (Brazzaville) and Equatorial Guinea may hold equivalent numbers.
