Overdependence on education
Nature
Education is believed to be the solution to most social problems including racism, segregation, war, environmental degradation, crime, and poverty. While the lack of understanding about problems may contribute to their existence, the solutions to these problems are far more complex and there is a great many examples of well educated racist or criminals. The social structures that perpetuate this type of problem are often more important to the society than the problem. The morality of the society and its basic assumptions often block the solution of problems, for example, a complex of assumptions about freedom of the individual, criminality, value of wealth and national sovereignty prevent the effective solutions to drug abuse. At the same time, the lack of political will and the incapacity to motivate the electorate prevent solutions to other problems.
