Lack of parental fulfilment

  • Stress of parenthood

Nature

Many parents find that their children are not the source of joy and satisfaction that they expected.

Incidence

Two-thirds of single parents in the UK are divorced. For many it was the arrival of children, together with failed expectations, financial difficulties and loss of independence, that precipitated the break up of the the marriage.

Claim

Statistics show that marriages without children are much safer. Children can break up a relationship that would survive quite happily otherwise.
