Lack of appreciation for nuclear weapons

  • Unrecognized merits of nuclear weapons

Nature

Nuclear weapons have become a modern myth, holding a power over culture previously held only by religion. That myth has become a physical part of each person's brain and is now acting as a strong unifying force for the earth as a whole. "You can't do what you want with the bomb", says one theorist, "the bomb does what it wants with you". The bomb thus unites people across the earth in a way that has not existed since the Middle Ages. Some suggest that warheads would be most useful not hidden away as they are now, but universally on display in public places such as shopping centres.
