Fish stress
- Unhealthy farmed fish
- Health problems in aquaculture
Nature
Stress is of central concern in aquaculture, as various stressors which accompany intensive fish husbandry can predispose the fish to compromised growth and health, and promote disease. Physiological stress responses in fish manifest in changes in the endocrine system or acid-base and ionic balance. Stress in fish is further evidenced in behavioural changes. Causes of fish stress include diet and rearing conditions.
