Failure of government to apologize for errors
- Failure of government to admit mistakes
- Refusal of government leaders to admit mistakes
- Unrepentant governments
- Uncontrite governments
Incidence
Examples of long-standing resentment from such failure are indicated by the apology in 1990 by the government of Japan for its activities in Korea and the apology in 1990 by the former East German government for its hostility to Israel and for the persecution of Jewish citizens prior to 1945 and thereafter. Only in 1993 did the Japanese government apologize for the conscription of Asian and European sex slaves for its soldiers during World War II.
