Excessive use of resources on expensive medical techniques

  • Prohibitive cost of high technology medical cures
  • Discriminatory use of medical resources to heal the privileged

Claim

There is good reason to be concerned about a marketplace distribution that penalizes those with fewer resources. The advantages conferred by the administration of growth hormone (for short children), by virtue of its high price, will be limited to the well-to-do but then scruples about unfairness don't seem to bother us when it comes to cosmetic surgery, psychiatry or other expensive medical treatments.
