Electroshock therapy

A woman who received electro-convulsive therapy, ECT, for puerperal psychosis says that the treatment destroyed her short term memory and here ability to think during her illness.

A doctor at a mother and baby clinic says that ECT need not disorient the patient any more than drugs usually prescribed for depression.

ECT does not affect breast milk like antidepressant drugs do.
