Decline in human intelligence

  • Peak intelligence

Incidence

A team of bio- and paleoanthropologists reported in 1997 that examination of nearly 200 human fossil remains indicates that human body height and cranial capacity peaked about 50,000 years ago and have been declining ever since. The decline is substantial, approximately 10 per cent, and follows a tremendous spurt in both parameters between 1.8 million years ago and 50,000 years ago.
