Air pollution from agricultural land use

  • Air pollutants arising from farming practices

Incidence

Combustion of agricultural waste is a major source of air pollution, releasing considerable emissions of carbon dioxide and particulate matter, and has little productive use other than getting rid of the waste. (Traditional reliance on smoke as a natural fumigant, heat as a sterilizer of soil, or the ashes as fertilizer have largely been replaced by the use of agrochemicals).
