Description
The characteristic of zeal is the wish to act, its function is searching or scanning for an object. It is manifest as need for an object or having it at its disposal. The object is its proximate cause. It is like the mental extending of a hand to grasp an object.
Context
One of the formations aggregate (mental coefficients) of Hinayana Buddhism, being listed among the "or-whatever" states, and as general primary (always present in any consciousness).
