Description

This refers to the wieldiness of the three aggregates of feeling, perception and formation or mental activities. The characteristic is suppressing or quieting unwieldiness of the mental body, the function is to crush its unwieldiness. It is manifest as success in making something the object of the mental body. Mental factors are the proximate cause. It brings faith in things to be trusted and application to beneficial acts, and it is the opponent of hindrances causing unwieldiness in the mental body. Wieldiness of mental body and wieldiness of consciousness are considered together.

Context

One of the formations aggregate (mental coefficients) of Hinayana Buddhism, being listed among the constant states which appear in their true nature, and as profitable primary (always present in any profitable or profitable-resultant consciousness).
