Description

This refers to the wieldiness of the aggregate of consciousness. The characteristic is suppressing or quieting unwieldiness of the citta, the function is to crush its unwieldiness. It is manifest as success in making something the object of consciousness. Consciousness is the proximate cause. It brings faith in things to be trusted and application to beneficial acts, and it is the opponent of hindrances causing unwieldiness in the citta. Wieldiness of mental body and wieldiness of consciousness are considered together.

Context

One of the formations aggregate (mental coefficients) of Hinayana Buddhism, being listed among the constant states which appear in their true nature, and as profitable primary (always present in any profitable or profitable-resultant consciousness).
