Transpersonal awareness

  • Consciousness three
  • Alteration

Description

Consciousness is the primary reality, both ego and the external world being derived from it. The basis for control is through self image, and this underlies not only mind-cure movements but also Buddhist traditions; and is the psychological basis for prayer and hope theology in Christianity. Through non-attachment, suffering is accepted or even embraced; as are also threats to the ego. Control comes through inducing an event through mental imagery.

Context

One of three possible modes by which the relationship of consciousness with ego may be regarded, each implying a particular strategy of control or of seeing the way through limitations, what may be termed a form of transcendence. Only in this third mode may the integrity of the unity of consciousness and ego be affirmed independent of considerations of manipulation of the environment.
