Thorough abandonings (Buddhism)

These are described as: the abandoning of already generated afflictions; the non-generating of not yet generated afflictions; the increasing of already generated pure phenomena; and the generation of not yet generated pure phenomena. Such thorough abandonings may, in conjunction with aspiring for enlightenment for the sake of others, lead to Buddhahood.
