State of buddhahood (Buddhism)

Description

The result of acts in the state of bodhisattva, this is absolute happiness. Even birth, old age, illness and death are part of the joy of living. The whole universe is illuminated by the light of wisdom, man's innate nature is destroyed, the life-space of Buddha unites with the universe. As the self becomes the cosmos the life-flow encompasses all the past and the future. In the present moment, the fountain of energy which is the life-force of the cosmos flows outwards. Unlike rapture, this joy cannot be destroyed. It is said to be within the reach of all, but lies dormant until the person discovers how to manifest it, not as an extra state but as a quality which, when it predominates, enriches every moment.

Context
