Sanctifying grace (Christianity)
Description
According to Catholic doctrine, this is a supernatural quality dwelling in the human soul and the means by which the person shares in the life of God. Its effects are to make the person holy and pleasing to God, to make him an adopted child of God, to make him a temple of the Holy Spirit and to give him a right to heaven. Because it is the supernatural life, sanctifying grace is necessary for attainment of the supernatural happiness of heaven.
