Sadness

Description

The feeling of powerlessness or inability to cope with an unpleasant situation or the loss of some source of love and wellbeing produces the emotion of sadness, in particular in response to unfulfilled or conflicting desires. This is more marked in sensitive or melancholic individuals and is accompanied by reduction in bodily strength and an inability to act. As absorption in suffering increases, depression and sometimes stupor result.
