Root afflictions (Buddhism)

According to Tibetan Buddhism, these afflictions or [knowers]

are the root of all others, and the cause of suffering the cycle of birth and rebirth.

The afflictions, together with the secondary mental factors, are comparable with the mental activities or formations of Hinayana Buddhism.
