Revulsion (Yoga, Zen)
- Dvesa
- Repulsion
Description
This state arises as a natural response to a source of pain or unhappiness. It is the reverse of attraction but similar in its ability to bind the individual. In fact, it is harder to transmute than attraction which can be transformed into impersonal love and as such no longer binds.
Context
One of the five human troubles, kleshas or afflictions, the causes of misery mentioned by Patanjali and referred to in Zen literature.
