Resolution (Buddhism, Pali)
- Resolve
Description
Here the act of resolving is that of being convinced about an object, it does not refer to trust, faith or belief. It is characterized by determination or conviction, its function is not groping or "slinking along", its manifestation is decisiveness (unshakableness). The proximate cause is the object about which to be convinced. Because it is unshakable it is like a stone pillar with respect to the object.
Context
One of the formations aggregate (mental coefficients) of Hinayana Buddhism, being listed among the "or-whatever" states, and as general primary (always present in any consciousness).
