Reforged transformation (ICA)

Description

This is a profound awareness of the past and, at the same time, a sense of being enslaved by it; when one finds one's self placed in history and forced to interpret one's role in the historical process. It may be compared to James Baldwin describing his attempt to escape the racism of the United States and discovering he carried America within himself.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of standing present to the mystery of being in life (the life of contemplation) the second formal aspect is the experience of fearful never-again-ness or of archaism. At the second phenomenological level this occurs when a person's being trapped reveals that he is forever bound to the mystery of life.
