Rebirth
- Psychic transformation
Description
According to Jung, tales of death and rebirth abound and are so compelling because they parallel the psychological process of transformation or transcendence experienced as a reality, whether during a sacred rite; connected with altered states of consciousness perhaps induced by some magical procedure involving incantation, mesmerism or drugs; or during the process of individuation, with the feeling of rebirth into a larger personality. The rebirth experience is said to be the result of an encounter with the archetype of transformation.
