Possession (Psychism)

The state of being possessed by some other personality, usually that of a disincarnate spirit is a form of [motor automatism]

, when the possessed person becomes a means of communication for the possessor. Whether the possessor is actually a (usually unexpressed) personality within the possessed, or whether it is the true possession of an existence external to the possessed, it is in any case the position that a mind is "using" a brain surrendered to it, usually of free will, by the person possessed.
