Personal violation (ICA)

Description

This is the horror of seeing that one is actively and passively involved in desecrating life; not only life in general but especially the people and situations one cares most about. It occurs on being forced to acknowledge that one is the cause of this disrelationship, as when someone who works for peace and disarmament encounters himself as the aggressor in family relationships.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of acting out one's freedom (the life of prayer) the first formal aspect is the struggle with repentance for one's sinfulness or confession. At the second phenomenological level this occurs on recognizing one's own full participation in one's fate.
