Mahayana climax-application awareness (Buddhism, Tibetan)
- Aloka-vriddhi samadhi
Description
This state of awareness is represented as a concentration in which the object of perception is annihilated. The formula of twelve-fold dependent origination is said to be fully understood as the Mahayana way. At this stage, one is characterized as embodying five cardinal virtues: "faith-works" or piety; potency; mindfulness; analytical concentration (samadhi); and wisdom (prajna or vidya). These virtues are all essential energies so that the mahayana adept is said to possess extraordinary powers to teach the dharma and reform the world.
Context
In Tibetan Sakya Buddhism this is one of the states in the "Ascension Stages Game". In some sets it is numbered 56 on the board.
