Kensho (Zen)

Brief moments of enlightenment - [satori]

- or of awakening enlightenment - experiences of satori which could still be made more profound - are, in Zen, referred to as [kensho]

. The experience of [kensho-godo]

has been described as looking directly into one's own nature and finding it to be the same as the ultimate nature of the universe. Again, attainment of this state is said to be a kind of [satori]

, although there may be differences of clarity and depth.
