Journeying within transcendence - from son to father
Description
The concern is that the disciples may be protected from the world and have a true unity of relationship, a unity of differentiation, reflecting God's glory. Initial growth into consciousness is through manifestation of the self in the ego; but establishment and strengthening of the ego involves apparent loss of self. Further growth involves meeting the shadow, freeing the self to be the self while the ego becomes relative. The self bears life, it is conscious of God's love. Through suffering it transcends, through differentiating it unites, through glorifying it reveals.
Context
The sixteenth section of St John's Gospel, Chapter XVII 1-24, is related to a stage in the spiritual journey of the individual.
