Journeying within transcendence - from head to heart
Description
Established tradition meets the new and the free. Seeing with the mind is to know; seeing with the heart is to be known. There is uneasiness as a suspicion arises that one's own efforts and accomplishments are insufficient, there is a need to be born again. Traditional, reasoned knowledge takes one further and further from the mythic world into which one was born; the knowledge of the immediate in Jesus connects with the inner world and demonstrates that other knowledge is in fact weakness. Wisdom and understanding come with awareness of the good, of value, as well as simply the true.
Context
The fifth section of St John's Gospel, Chapter II 1 to IV 1, is related to a stage in the spiritual journey of the individual.
