Impactful profundity (ICA)
Description
This is discovering one has power to profoundly influence the lives of others by the clarity and passion with which one speaks. One's whole style of being emanates authority and authenticity. It may be compared to McMurphy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" as he breathes life into the dehumanizing environment of a mental institution, affecting both patients and staff with his presence. The Peter Sellers' movie "Being There" makes a spoof of this power as the childlike Chancy Gardener becomes the most respected voice in the United States, holding the nation spellbound by his supposed depth and lucidity.
A dimension of this experience is a sense of awe, that is fear and fascination. One experiences being forever on stage and utterly adequate for every moment. One has no power of one's self but life itself seems to be using one as an instrument for its purposes: whatever one says or does has a shocking accuracy about it. While discovering one has this charisma, one fears that one's own will might interfere; and has misgivings that people won't hear what one is saying and that one has set one's self up as a target.
Awareness of the power to transform another's life brings decision to live beyond one's own previously constructed boundaries, to dare to trust life's ability to flow through one and to speak with a sense of profound assurance. There is a firm belief that the "magic will work" and one is given courage to keep standing on centre stage.
