Heavenly sorrow (ICA)

Description

This is the moment when a person realizes that all existence is separation, when he sees that his entire life and every act is in the context of profound separation from himself, from others and from the mystery of life; as in Hamlet's soliloquy on being and not-being.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of acting out one's freedom (the life of prayer) the first formal aspect is one's struggle with repentance for one's sinfulness or confession. At the fourth phenomenological level this occurs when one knows that one's whole life is inescapably bound in this struggle.
