Healing
Description
Healing was the term used by Jung to express the wholeness of the individual which, rather than [cure]
, was the aim of analysis. Such healing implied the compassion and empathy of the therapist and a therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the person under analysis. This implies an "inner wound" within the analyst - he is not all-powerful and strong, bringing a cure to the passive and dependent patient; his experience of wounded-ness enables him to be aware of the inner world and is projected into the patient, who himself is cut off from inner health if he thinks of himself, or is thought of, simply as "ill".
