God-consciousness as power

The evolution or mystic attainment by man to a state of god-consciousness may first be evidenced by feelings of creative energies and powers. It is an intoxicating realization that one can wield Zeus' thunderbolt, or carry the sacred fire, like Prometheus. It gives full scope to the ego's will-to-power and may lead to the classic downfall of a Phaeton or Faust; that is, to psychic disintegration. In its more positive manifestation, it expresses itself in man as boundless energy, the capability to realize one's projects and ambitions, and the self-knowledge that one has a mission to perform.
