Frightful possibility (ICA)

Description

This is seeing that things could go in any direction and wondering what in the world to do now; when suddenly the unthought of, or the seemingly impossible, becomes possible. It may be compared to Mountain Rivera in the film "Requiem for a Heavyweight", when he is told that he will go blind if he continues to box.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of standing present to the mystery of being in life (the life of contemplation) the third formal aspect is the experience of awesome not-yet-ness or of futurity. At the second phenomenological level this occurs when a person's being trapped reveals that he is forever bound to the mystery of life.
