Description

These are powers attained on the path of preparation on the levels of forbearance and supreme mundane qualities. They are developed on strengthening of the 'five roots' and are attained in the path of preparation on the levels of heat and peak. The powers are: faith precluding all false beliefs; effort, energy or exertion, application of 'four perfect efforts' (restraint and overcoming of unwholesome factors, development and maintenance of wholesome factors); mindfulness arising from application of satipatthana; meditative stabilization in which all passions are eliminated in samadhi; wisdom arising from insight into the four noble truths.

Context

One of the sections of yogic paths or harmonies with enlightenment defined in Buddhism. Also among the prerequisites for enlightenment – bodhi pakshika dharma – of which there are 37 grouped in seven areas, this group is the fifth of the seven areas.
