Description

This level is characterized by continuing to perfect the [bodhipasika]

and by absorption in meditation - [dhyana]

- and from this comes intuitive knowledge of [dharma]

as truth, an understanding of the [four noble truths]

and of the [two truths]

. Knowing beyond doubt and uncertainty the proper way from the mistaken, there is infallible memory and an ability to write commentaries on scripture. What is "very-difficult-to-overcome" (sudurjaya), the fifth level bodhisattva is represented as accomplishing. He may express the dharma in the arts, designing gardens and outdoor and indoor theatres; and he may create tableaux, plays and games for edification.

Context

According to Tibetan Gelugpa Buddhism, the fifth level on the path appropriate to those working for the salvation of all, leading to Buddhahood and the ultimate consciousness. In Tibetan Sakya Buddhism this is one of the states in the "Ascension Stages Game". In some sets it is numbered 88 on the board.
