Unlike free-floating fantasy, this is not pure play. It has the intention of removing the individual from immediate reality and creates alternative and highly personalized realities. These may range from creative to destructive and may or may not be beneficial to the dreamer. The beneficial effect depends on the feedback system between the dream world and the real world.
