Dhul-Jalali wal-Ikram (Sufism)
- Dhul-Jalal-wal-Ikram
Description
The believer is aware of Allah as the lord of majesty and bounty. All perfection belongs to Him, all blessing comes from Him. Nothing can exist of itself or sustain itself. Those who revolt against Him have no power on which they can depend. Yet our needs are supplied by others, He has made each dependent on others and others dependent on each. Gratitude is due to the vehicle and to the source. Blessing is obtained by spending upon others what we have received from Him. One of the beautiful names which can be applied only to Allah, some have claimed this as the greatest name of all.
Context
A mode of mystical awareness in the Sufi tradition associated with the eighty-fifth of the ninety-nine names of Allah.
