Determining history (ICA)

Description

This is knowing that one's actions are part of history and that they shape the direction in which society is moving. It occurs when one realizes that one's every act is of significance relative to the future of one's life and to that of society, as when parents select a school to which to send their children, or the editor of a newspaper decides whether or not to publish a story.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of acting out one's deed (the life of doing) the second formal aspect is extending one's engagement to history. At the third phenomenological level this occurs when the individual embraces his election to this life, this task.
