Consciousness ascension stages game (Buddhism, Tibetan)

Description

The mind is led to different domains of awareness by words and pictures, by programmed action (ritual) and guided behaviour. Games have the characteristic of both programmed action (or ritual) and guided behaviour. Some games can symbolize the phenomena of life, referring also to differing kinds of knowledge and levels of perception of reality. The Tibetan Consciousness Ascension Stages games are played on variously designed boards, some with 72 squares, others with many more. The games can be used to describe one's past, present and future existences, or to teach a view of the universe in which the interrelatedness and transitory nature of phenomena are put forth, and the way to escape (nirvana) from the samsara (wheel of rebirth).
