Description
Here, as with concentration accompanied by happiness, there is unification with the first two jhanas in the fourfold reckoning and the first three in the fivefold reckoning; but there is also unification with the third jhana in the fourfold reckoning and the fourth in the fivefold reckoning. It is one of the kinds of access concentration.
Context
According to Hinayana Buddhism, concentration is considered as of one kind (monad), of two kinds (dyads), of three kinds (triads), of four kinds (tetrads) or of five kinds (pentad). In the third triad, this is the second concentration.
