Change

  • Mental transformation

Description

Change represents a dynamic as opposed to a static state and is characteristic of the universe and all that is in it. An awareness of appearance as [maya]

, or the veils covering reality, demonstrates this - that the apparently solid and stable is actually a state of flux and nothing can be said to be identically the same from one instant to the next. It is maya which makes the static state appear real. The process of change or of transformation is manifested through alterations in an individual's thoughts, feelings and actions. In religious terms this may imply a conversion to a new faith or stronger commitment to a previous faith. The process of change may be very uncomfortable and is the subject of study of psychology.
