Biosocial consciousness

  • Consciousness as ego conflict
  • Regression

Description

Consciousness is derived from conflict of the ego with the real objects which make up the world, or from interaction with them. The world thus presents a threat; and control is a matter of engaging this threat, accepting that the ego is changed as a result of the engagement. The ego is therefore also a product of the external world.

Context

One of three possible modes by which the relationship of consciousness with ego may be regarded, each implying a particular strategy of control or of seeing the way through limitations, what may be termed a form of transcendence.
