Being history (ICA)

Description

This state is experienced as understanding history and one's own life as two sides of the same coin. This occurs when a person mutates their lifestyle to suit whatever situation life presents to them. This is like Dr. Martin Luther King's shift from a focus on the civil rights movement to the anti-war movement, when he discerned that the latter was the locus of the most severe denial of people's human rights.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of being the presence of transcendence (the life of chastity) the third formal aspect is inventing one's own essence, in which someone manifests through their style of being what they perceive existence to be. At the fourth phenomenological level, this occurs when someone perceives the void at the centre of existence, and continues to live out the absurdity.
