Archaic-paralogical thinking

  • Archaic thought
  • Primordial thinking
  • Primitive thinking

Description

This type of thinking, commonly classified with [pre-archaic]

and [paralogical-logical]

thinking, demonstrates a general impairment in the ability to generalize or think in abstract terms, and is said to be typical of primitive man and also to occur in schizophrenic disorders. Reasoning and the ability to differentiate are diminished; and feeling, perception and seeing in concrete terms dominate. There is a lack of differentiation between the self and objects and between objects and a fusion of sense modalities.
