Alternate state of consciousness (ASC)
Description
Hilary Evans contrasts this state with the [usual]
state of consciousness. Any state not experienced as usual is implied. It is characterized by significant changes in perception and behaviour and may arise spontaneously or be entered by choice. There is some loss of self-control and sense of identity, and an awareness of not being one's usual self.
