Al-Sabur (Sufism)
Description
The believer is aware of Allah as patient, unhurried, being in perfect measure and time. He is patient with sinners, giving time for repentance. In this state the affairs of both the world and the hereafter are resolved. The believer applies himself to those things acceptable to reason and religion, refusing desires of the flesh and the ego despite the pain involved. He submits only to Allah, fearing no-one else, abasing himself to no-one else.
Context
A mode of mystical awareness in the Sufi tradition associated with the ninety-ninth of the ninety-nine names of Allah.
